Reclaimed Street PaversPaving brick making thrived beginning in the late 19th century throughout the Midwest in areas where high quality shale could be mined. The business really took off when the invention of the automobile at the turn of the century created a huge demand for paved rounds across America. The business grew and continued to thrive up until the invention of asphalt paving took over in the 1930s. The manufacture of these clay and shale street pavers continued as a niche end of the brick market up until the 1950's. Hotbeds of paving brick included areas around rivers in Ohio, Indian and Illinois. Our vintage paving brick stock is constantly changing; including Purington pavers, Metropolitan Block and Poston Pavers along with many other brands of Paving brick.
