What is common brick?  Common brick is the was the most basic form of fired brick, clay and water are the basic ingredients.  The majority of all brick made in North America From the 1600's up until the 1960s was this basic type of brick.   Early brick was mixed and molded, by hand. Production equipment came about in the early part of the 19th century.
